I know by now most of you have seen the “coexist” bumper stickers, the ones with all the different religious symbols that make up the words coexist. I can honestly say that I hate that bumper sticker, because it is an attack on the true Gospel. All roads do not lead to Heaven. I am reminded of such verses as Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” In John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” The Gospel message we have to share is both offensive, scandalous, and foolishness (I Corinthians 1:18) to a lost and dying world. How do we share the Gospel without making it more offensive? We do it “by speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). We never compromise the Gospel, but proclaim it with love and let the Holy Spirit do its job. It is sometimes a hard job to share the Gospel and not sound offensive to some people, but we are still called to proclaim the Truth. We will be going across the street again from the Pinnacle movie theater in Turkey Creek to the strip mall to reach the young people that will be in that area this summer. Please pray for us as we go out, and for the people who will hear the Gospel.
