When I meet someone for the first time with the intent on sharing the Gospel, one of the first questions I ask them is this, “Have you ever been born again?” I think that is a fair question and a quick way to see where they are at spiritually. If they say, “yes I am.” I then ask them, “what does that mean?” I have heard various answers to that question. Some good, some not so good. I think the Bible gives us a great picture of what it means to be born again. It is found in (Ezekiel 36:26-27) I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.  That is, in my opinion, the best definition of what it means to be born again. If that has not happened in your life, then you are not born again. I think the best scripture to what that looks like is in (Galatians 2:20) I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.  Salvation is a gift of God. He gives us a new heart, a new Spirit, and faith to believe. ALL and every part of salvation is a work of God. Hebrews 12 says “Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith.”  I would like to challenge you this week to ask yourself (2 Corinthians 13:5) and others the question. Have you been born again? Thanks be to God for so great a salvation we have in Christ Jesus!

Newsletter

This Saturday, the 18th, is the U.T. vs. Florida football game. We plan on being there a couple of hours before kick-off to hand out tracts and share the Gospel. The game starts at 3:30pm, so we will need to meet at 12:30pm to head to the game. Last year we were able to give out close to 1,000 tracts in a few hours. I think we can do better this year. This is a great time to get your feet wet in evangelism. It is not very intimidating. You just hand out tracts. Please begin to pray about your involvement this Saturday. If you plan on coming out, let me know before then so I can give you more info. If you can not make it, please pray for us and the people who will receive the Gospel.
